If you further your studies and pursue a Bachelor’s degree, there are programs in electronic engineering or avionics, as well as robotics engineering and automated systems.

Two of the most popular career choices in industrial electronics and networking include Industrial Electronics Technician and an Inside Electrician. As an Industrial electronics technician you are charged with ensuring manufacturing and assembly equipment, including industrial Ethernet switches, operate properly. You are also responsible for performing repairs as necessary.

 

Those in this field can either visit sites to work on equipment or work within service centers. Industrial electronics professionals commonly use equipment like signal generators and voltage meters to test faulty wiring, replace hardware components, and troubleshoot computer control systems. They also work on antennas, programmable logic controllers, and transmitters.

An inside electrician specializes in electrical and electronic systems that are found in factories and businesses. Those in this profession run routine maintenance checks on equipment, verify that safety standards are met, and make necessary upgrades, as needed. Inside electricians often install equipment, as well.

When it comes to salary, statistics from 2015 from the BLS show that electrical and electronics repairers earned average annual salaries of just over $55,000 and electricians earned almost $52,000.
