Avid Unbreaded reader Andrew Weiser recently delved into the “Death by Cheesesteak” at Joey’s Famous Philly Cheesesteaks in Phoenixville. The $15 monstrosity heaps on a double serving of rib eye, eight slices of American or provolone cheese, sweet peppers, mushrooms and fried onions. The strangest part of the whole ordeal is that Joey’s is originally from Michigan. A “Philly cheesesteak” shop from out of town covered in Philly sports memorabilia and sandwiches named the “Harry Kalas” and “76er” that is actually located in the Philadelphia suburbs just rubs us the wrong way.

Either way, Weiser seemed to thoroughly enjoy the sandwich, admitting that it doesn’t come close to an authentic cheesesteak, but is pretty damn good for the Valley Forge area.
