PS: If you want to check out a bona fide place with one of the best CMPs in the world, go to Richards Drive In aka Greasy Dicks in Palmer, PA. They've been doing burgers, dogs, shakes and sundaes the right way since before I was born (which is a hell of a long time ago).

I'm glad you pointed out the "Starr Shack" very apt nickname. I mean, I'm eager to try this, because I'm a huge fan of the Shake Shack in NY and I like the fact that they are using my beloved CMP, all they need to do is add a deep fried Easton dog and I'll be their biggest promoter. However, can't Philly's one (sort of) restaurant innovator be an actual innovator for at least one time? Perhaps the phrase "originally conceptualized" could be replaced with "the first guy who traveled to Manhattan who had the funding to use the idea." The burger thing has been huge in our obnoxious big sister to the north for a few years now. All of that said, I know I'm splitting hairs and I'm totally happy that Franklin Square is becoming even better than it already was (I used to feed the homeless in that mess of bramble back in the mid-90s) .

I take it back, the rolls have butter in them, so the dog isn't kosher.

I like that he's keeping it local with the Martin's Potato Rolls, a Philly summer BBQ staple. Plus, I think they are kosher, making that Philly dog have 100% kosher ingredients. And since it's not cooked on the grill there is no cross-contamination. The kitchen isn't kosher, of course.
