One of the things that I am the most excited about doing in our new house is getting the custom window treatments that I have always wanted. I love to look at examples for what you can do with windows when ever we go to home shows or on the home tours. It is just one of the things that I love about houses, that you can spruce up and decorate your windows. I’m not much for putting decorations on the front door during the holidays, but I love to look in windows of the houses in my neighborhood when I drive by at Christmas and see the trees and the lights that everyone has up. I also love to see how people decorate their windows. It’s like adding that little extra bit to the front of your home, that you can enjoy from the inside and from the outside, because that is what you can do when you really focus on what is going to be hanging in your windows, or what is going to be view-able through your windows. There are of course other things that I am excited about, I really do like decorating new spaces and our new home is going to be perfect for that. But I’m still trying to gather ideas and figure out exactly what I want the space to look like and what parts of our family I want it to reflect. When we decided on the types of windows we would put in all the window spaces, we also had to pick a color that we would use. And so at that time we really had to decide what the interior and exterior would look like, to match that color.

It was already going to be fun to put up new stuff, but now that I get to also decorate the windows and use that to pull together everything from the interior and the exterior, it really made sense to get to work on that aspect first. There are several other things that we could be working on, and that we certainly will be working on in the future, but right now we are going to let some of that go and just work on the windows and the way that I want them to look. The decorations that go over the windows, I suppose they are called window coverings, are going to really dictate the rest of the decorations in the house, and the colors and such. So we are going to need to be sure that we get it right the first time, the colors and the style, because the rest of everything we do in decorating the new space is going to flow from that. I even want the front door to match what I do throughout the house, so we need to be careful about how we proceed and what we choose. It will be fun, as long as I know that we have gotten the colors and style that we want correct in the first place.
