Bobby Flay's Perfect Sandwich Has Hellmann's Mayo?

We are big fans of Chef Bobby Flay, his variety of cooking styles and mastery of the grill have always impressed us. He also has recently opened a burger chain, Bobby’s Burger Palace which we’ve been dying to review. But when we found out Bobby was hocking Hellmann’s mayonnaise, we were a bit letdown.

A tipster notified us that Flay appeared on The Ellen Show last Friday to create the perfect sandwich. His creation is eggplant, tomato and basil pesto mayo on toasted Italian bread - surely a delicious sandwich, but perfect? With four shows on Food Network, successful restaurants and cookbooks on the shelves we just question why Bobby needs to sellout for Hellmann’s. Check out the Ellen Show segment and also a promotional video created by Hellmann’s after the jump.

I wouldn't mind the sellout if he would lick up all the mayo dribbles like Padma Lakshmi did in that Hardee's ad.

As it stands, kind of lame.

Why are you hating on Helmanns?

First your blog is cutting down scrapple and now a smear on the best commercially available sandwich emulsion in the whole US of A and probably Canada? Come on now, you can't always make your own mayo and Hellmans is quality stuff.

Really, I am starting to doubt your commitment to the sandwich food form.

Don't tell me you are a miracle whipper.
  • Where in that post did I trounce on Hellmann's mayonnaise? Sure it's a handy product to have in the fridge, and a very popular condiment. This post was questioning why Bobby Flay agreed to be the new face of Hellmann's (obviously for money).
